This morning was Bucky's first day of preschool. He was supposed to start two weeks ago but unfortunate family events postponed his schooling. We got up this morning for a regular day and then I informed him that we had to get ready to take him to preschool. He immediately jumped off the couch and ran to his room to start getting dressed. He was so excited! It was purple day at school but since he has no purple clothes he picked out an orange shirt. I brushed his hair and finished getting myself ready. Then we went to the front porch to take some pictures (of course). Notice the change of backpacks. By the time we got to the school, he decided he wanted to wear "daddy's backpack" inside. When we got there he saw his "friend", Ben and they followed each other around to play and then head inside. He found his picture to hang his backpack and his name on the table all by himself. Apparently, he knows what his name looks like already :). I signed him in, grabbed his papers, bent to give him hugs and kisses, got denied, he asked me to stay with him, I explained why I couldn't, he pouted, I left, smiling. When I went to pick him up, he said "mommy!" I signed him out, talked with his teacher, and we left to head home. All in all, he did great!

Synopsis
Unfortunately for my blog, life took over the past couple of weeks so I haven't been able to stay up to date. Synopsis: Last minute flight to ATL to meet up with Buck due to his grandfather's illnesses and unfortunate passing. We were very thankful that Buck was able to get there in time to say his good-byes and attend his funeral. Although there will definitely be a mourning period for all, his grandmother is doing very well through all of it.
Bucky and I have only been back for a few days so we are currently trying to get back into a routine that works for us. We had a Labor Day BBQ with our FRG that was very relaxing and fulfilling in many ways. Tuesday we stayed home all day so he could chill and I could clean and get caught up on housework. Read the next post for Wednesday :)

Sky Sox
Wednesday night, we went to our first Sky Sox game without daddy and while we did have a good time, he was missed. We got a group of Army wives together to partake in this free even. When we got there one of the wives decided she didn't sit with the "common" people so she paid to upgrade all our seats (thanks!)...actually the benches are uncomfortable and she wanted to sit in individual seats. Bucky had a great time watching the game and flirting with the little girl behind us. The main thing is we all had a really fun time!

Pork Medallions with Marsala
Tried a new recipe tonight that was absolutely delicious and very easy to make. Thought I'd share here in case anyone needed some new dinner ideas:
Pork Medallions with Marsala
Ingredients: 1 lb pork tenderloin, cut into 1/2 inch slices, All-purpose flour, 2 T olive oil, 1 clove garlic, minced, 1/2 c sweet marsala wine, 2 T chopped fresh parsley
1) Lightly dust pork with flour, Heat oil in large skillet over med-high heat. Add pork slices; cook 3 minutes per side or until browned. Remove from pan. Reduce heat to medium.
2) Add garlic to skillet; cook and stir 1 minute. Add wine and pork; cook 3 minutes or until pork is barely pink. Remove pork. Stir in parsley. Simmer wine mixture 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened. Serve over pork.
Above is the recipe from the book but here's how I changed it. I had to add more wine after removing the pork in order to make the sauce. That's it - that's all I had to change :).
The pork tasted wonderful and was so moist. It was very yummy and will definitely be made again.

Sesame Street USO
The USO brought Sesame Street to us today for FREE!! Can you believe it?!?! Well, you should. One of the positive things about the military is that they usually have shows or events going on quite regularly and you can usually get some swag at these events. Even if it's just notepads, well, I use post-its and notepads regularly so that helps me :).

Anyway, our friends went with us to this show and the kids had a great time! After all was said and done, my only question was "Where's Big Bird?"

I Am....
Quite possibly the WORST blogger ever!!

Although I have several excuses of why my blog has not been updated, there aren't any worse than it's been 2 weeks and 4 days. Anyone who knows what's going on knows what that length of time represents. Prior to the 2 weeks and 4 days was two weeks of travel. That'll get ya back to my previous blog. Rather than try to give a play by play update, here's a recap.
When I say travel, I mean travel. We drove (yes, drove) from Colorado to Kansas to Arkansas to Alabama to Georgia to Orlando, FL to NW FL to Arkansas to Kansas to Colorado....all in less than 2 1/2 weeks. While we enjoyed visiting with everyone I think we came to the conclusion that type of trip is never going to happen again. It was just too much time in the car, too much uncertainty, too much stress, and too much off schedule for us and especially the little guy. We did, however, manage to get in a few days for us at Disney which was wonderful and we had a great time...until we had to leave.
Here are a few pics of the road trip:
While there are many, MANY more pictures from our road trip, I just don't have the time nor do I have the desire to post more right now. But I do promise to TRY to keep up to date better in the near future. For example, I have another post to do right after this one from today :).
