Our New Adventure

A lot has happened since my last post so this will, again, just be a recap. Since I last wrote, we have visited PC for the holidays and traveled cross country to PCS to Arizona.

Bucky got his Orange Belt in Jujitsu.

We visited Florida before heading west.

Visited the battleship in Mobile Bay.

We spent a couple of days in Tombstone.

We rang in the New Year at a hotel in Tombstone.

Moved into our house at Fort Huachuca, AZ.

And, of course, enjoyed the beautiful weather.

Now is where I promise to stay caught up and blog every X amount of days but between 2 kids, a husband's erratic work schedule, my school and continuing to set up a house for us for the next few years (hopefully), I'm a little busy. It's a good busy, but busy nonetheless :).

St. Augustine

On our way back from Melbourne, we decided to stop in St. Augustine to show Bucky around and explore the Castillo de San Marcos. Buck and I went many years ago and thought the kiddo would really enjoy it. We got there just in time, too. There was a cannon demonstration about 30 minutes after we arrived and a tour starting a little bit after that. We stood on the to of the structure to see the cannon and then headed downstairs to wait for the tour. While waiting in the breezy entryway, I was downing water like there was no tomorrow. It was sooooo HOT; I think it was about 100 degrees in the shade. We started the tour and went into a room for the guide to start her speech. I lasted about 10 minutes and then returned to the entryway to sit. I was just about miserable and there wasn't a breeze in the other room. It felt like the air was being sucked out of the room. Anyway, the boys kept going in the tour until Buck realized the lady was pretty much just repeating what the signs all say. So we did our own (very quick) tour and headed out to get some lunch. Thank goodness there was a place right across the street. After we ate, we went back to the car and came home.

Trip to Melbourne

Even though I am not really a good traveler right now because of comfort and other pregnancy related stuff, we got an opportunity to travel to Melbourne, FL with hubby for him to attend a class. I have a hard time turning down any trip that involves the beach so I didn't :). Buck was not able to go with us during the day most days but we found a way to pass the time anyway. Bucky and I went to the pool, hot tub, stores, mall, and just hung out and relaxed for the most part. It was a nice last minute last getaway before baby girl makes her appearance. Spring Break, Pt Deux

I had been wanting to take Bucky to the beach since we arrived in Fl (ok, actually since before we arrived in Fl) but the weather was not cooperating. So on Friday when the weather appeared clear, I made us get up, get dressed, and go. I also texted my friend, Anna, to see if she and her kiddos wanted to meet up with us for some fun in the sun. They had plans later in the day but we were able to get together for lunch and for the kiddos to play before we parted ways. We met at the mall since they have put a play area in the middle of the food court. The kids had a great time and then we ate and left. It was a great impromptu visit! I also have Anna to think for recommending an area on Beach Dr to go to rather than driving all the way out to the beach. It was perfect. the beach area is much smaller than the actual beach and we didn't have to compete with Spring Breakers. I actually got to relax rather than being side by side with Bucky because he could only go a few feet from me and there weren't many people. He enjoyed it and eventually a few "friends" came too so he had someone else to play with before we left. During this trip, I realized I need to get a new bathing suit to feel comfortable enough to stand up. Now I don't mind showing my belly because I was trying to get a tan at this point but the rest of my changing (and growing) baby body needs to be covered up a little more than it was.

After the beach, we headed back to my parents' house. As a last minute decision, we decided to go to Friday Fest since my hubby was not going to make it to PC as planned. We cleaned up, changed clothes, and headed right back out again. And it was wonderful! There was a lot going on and Bucky really enjoyed the kiddie area with the bouncy houses. We also ate dinner while out there and enjoyed the very nice weather while walking around downtown.

It's soooooo not happening...

I've failed again at blogging daily but such is life. If that's the worst thing I fail at than I am doing just fine.

Over the Christmas break, we all headed down to PC for some family time with my folks. And I got to meet Caitlyn for the first time. She was only 4 days old. I gotta say, my bro and sis-in-law make some really, REALLY cute babies! We hung out at the house, played, visited some friends, enjoyed no one having the stomach flu this year, and even took time for some extra activities, such as fishing and going to the park. We did make it over to Ft Walton for a few hours to visit there too. Nothing too exciting happened, which is just the way we like it. And for those who were wondering, I could've worn shorts on Christmas Day :)!

Buck and I went to a friend's friend's house (because that's what we do in the South) for the FSU bowl game against Notre Dame. Though we were all worried at first, all I have to say is "Go NOLES!"

We also went to a "family-friendly" New Year's Eve party. Bucky was the only kiddo to survive until midnight - what a champ! The kids roasted marshmallows, did sparklers, and played Wii most of the night while the adults watched football and just had a great time. Thanks Trey!

And then we headed home...

Happy Halloween!!

After we made it through the rest of our trip, including the never-ending state, and seeing a few more sites from the road, we made it to Panama City for Halloween festivities. Bucky decided to be Luigi this year...saved me money since I had purchased it for $2 the prior year after Halloween. We went to the mall for him to go store to store. He really enjoyed it and then he got to ride some ride and play in the balloons. I carved him a jack-o-lantern since it was so much fun last year (not really) but I knew he would like it.

Grand Canyon

Our next touristy stop was the Grand Canyon. A very good friend of mine had suggested that we go to sunrise at the canyon. We didn't get to a hotel until late the night before and there are not many things I will get up early for but I thought this might be worth it. It was about 35 degrees the next morning when we headed out but still we went ahead with it. When we got there, we were quickly reminded of the stereotypical vacation when you are surrounded by Asian folks talking 90mph and clicking away. We both started laughing when we turned around and saw nothing but that because three or four tour buses had just pulled up. We waited it out and let me tell you it was definitely a wonderfully splendid view! I didn't think we were going to make it the whole time because the kiddo was very cold and almost miserable but he hung in there like a champ. We even got to see some deer on the pathway right in front of us as we headed back to the car.

After sunrise we went back to the hotel for breakfast and some more sleep before viewing the canyon during the day and heading out for another day of travel.
