Springtime?!?!

The weather here has definitely not been steady in either direction. There was snow on the ground yesterday morning and it was high-60's today. I have yet to check on our garden because I'm afraid of what I'm going to find. Bucky's tomatoes started growing so I planted about 10 of them in the garden. Hopefully, they'll survive the up and down temps b/c, quite frankly, we don't cover our veggies in Florida. I do still have one little pot with growing plants inside just in case the ones outside bite the big one.
On a different note, I finished painting the kitchen and dining room. Now I'm on a mission to find pictures for the dining room. I also have to hang the vertical blinds. I'll take and post pictures once the whole thing is completed. I do have some before pictures so you can see the ugly colors I gladly painted over to brighten the room.

New Haircut

I finally got my hair cut! It ended up being about 6+ inches taken off. It feels so much lighter and definitely fits my personality better. Now I can actually do something with my hair rather than just put it in a ponytail. Yay me!! It was one of those haircuts where you walk out of the place feeling happier and more outgoing. Hopefully Buck will like it as much as I do when he gets back :)

Happy Easter!

For Easter this year, it was kinda spread out over a few days. We had an "egg hunt" on post on Thursday - I use that term loosely as it was the worst egg hunt ever. We had a BBQ on Saturday night with new and old platoon folks - the food was delicious! We did give Bucky his Easter basket on Sunday morning but didn't have time to dye eggs b/c Buck and I went on a date night before his out of town training. Monday morning we dyed eggs and played with safari animal capsules. They are the things you put in hot water and wait for them to disintegrate so the spongy animal comes out. Bucky loved them! After Bucky's nap, we hunted eggs in the backyard. Bucky found 2 plastic eggs, shook them, realized there was candy, and had to be coaxed to finish finding eggs. He did get the idea this year and seemed to love finding them in crazy places. You could see the look on his face the moment he spotted another one. All in all, the only thing missing was the rest of our family.

Easter Bunny

We took Bucky to our local mall to get his picture taken with the Easter Bunny. It was not easy to get him to actually look up for the picture. For the most part, he was looking down with his eyes covered. He never cried or whined...he just didn't want to look at the camera. So we almost ended up with a picture with his lips pouting but at least you could see his eyes. As Buck joined me to pick out a pic, I told the photographer to keep watching him b/c he would look up when he noticed no one was paying attention....and he did. This was the final pose. Happy Easter everyone!!

He Did It!

Well - on March 26th, 2010 at approximately 1:59PM (1359), Buck graduated from WLC. For those who don't understand how important this was, he was not supposed to get his current rank without it. Therefore, he could not have furthered his career until he finished and passed the course. He was only 1 point shy of being in the top 20% of his class so he did very well. We have both been waiting (im)patiently for this class to become available for him during a time when he was actually in town. Finally, though, it came, he went, he conquered :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day

For some reason, I just haven't done much with my camera lately but I am trying to get back into taking lots and lots of pictures. Here are some pictures of Bucky that I took yesterday for St. Patrick's Day.

My Bro is a Grown-Up Now

On March 6, 2010, my baby brother, DJ, was married to his beautiful bride, Alisa. They were visibly very excited about the day and wedding. It was a wonderful and short ceremony at Oaks by the Bay followed by a fun and entertaining reception at the Boatyard. The wedding was a little chilly since it was outside but everyone looked great. My little ring bearer made it up the aisle with a little coaxing from the flower girls but stopped when he saw his grandaddy. He did much better than I expected. Alisa made all the reception decorations and DJ, her cousin, and I helped her decorate. When we got there after the ceremony, it was absolutely gorgeous with all the candles lit and twinkle lights on. She did a wonderful job making everything. I know they were both very happy the stressful part was over and they seemed to thoroughly enjoy having fun with everyone on the dance floor. Congratulations DJ and Alisa! I am so proud of you baby brother and am so happy you found someone with which to spend the rest of your life! I love you!!
