I Heart Faces - Week 38 (Blue)

The theme of this week's I Heart Faces challenge is "Blue". I immediately thought of a previously posted picture I took for my son's 2nd Birthday pictures. I love the way his blue shirt brings out his blue eyes. Head to iheartfaces.blogspot.com to see more entries.

Bucky's 1st Bowling

We took Bucky bowling Thursday afternoon when Buck got home from work. To our surprise it was only $1 per game for us until 5 pm so that was a bonus for us. Bucky did so good and he really loved it! After a couple of tries with help, he started picking his ball up out of the return, walking to his lane and rolling it himself. We tried the ramp but all I could picture was him dropping the ball on his foot while trying to put it on the top. We had to correct him a few times because he would veer towards our lane or stand way too far back to start the roll or chase the ball down the lane and fall as a result....but he had a great time and that's what matters!! (and yes, we are wearing long sleeves and jeans in September :( )

Pikes Peak

Both of our FB teams won yesterday so we were both in relatively good moods today. We took Bucky to the park and then headed up Pikes Peak...something Buck has wanted to do since we got to CO. Although the change in altitude can make you nautious, dizzy, thirsty, and faint, we braved it to go to the summit. The trip up was a little rough but we walked around in the snow (yes, snow) when we arrived. Buck threw a snowball at me and was warned shortly thereafter not to do it again ;) Bucky didn't really want anything to do with it - fine with me. Rascal was skiddish but quickly began to enjoy it. While we were enjoying the donuts inside, I looked outside and quickly asked, "Is that snow?" An emphatic, "Yes it is" was the reply. So then, of course, we "had" to play in it. This was Bucky's first view of snow and his response was to hold his arms and say, "Brrr...cold." That's my boy!! We went very slow on the way down due to this new precipitation and I was glad to be back in the 70 degree weather at the bottom. On the way down, you are required to stop to let the ranger check your brake temp to make sure they are not too hot. The max temp is 300...Buck did such an amazing job driving that ours were only 86. To give you an idea of why they check, the car in front of us had to pull over and park because theirs were 345. Also, the water bottle that was shaped perfectly compressed on the trip down. We are now home and tired and relaxing watching football. It was overall a great day.

FSU vs. UM

We had a few people over last night for the FSU/UM game. Unfortunately, we lost, but the game was very exciting and we didn't know the winner until the last few seconds b/c of a dropped (low) pass. BOO HOO!!!

Zoo

Bucky was sick Thursday night through Saturday morning so Monday we took him to the zoo to get him out of the house since he was feeling better. He really enjoys the animals and can name most of them. He can even mimic some of the sounds. He also likes feeding crackers to the giraffes. He rode the carousel this time but was done after a couple of minutes so the lady stopped it for him. I tried to get him to ride the real pony but he wouldn't do it this trip. Last time he loved it but apparently he wasn't in the mood this day :)

Organization Day?

Buck's unit had an organization day for the soldiers and their families last Thursday. They played sports, ate (once the grill was finally lit), and socialized.

Sky Sox

The Colorado Rockies (MLB) has a minor league team in Colorado Springs called the Sky Sox. We went to our 3rd game on the 2nd b/c they were having a military appreciation day...AKA free admission day for service members and dependents. Bucky has really enjoyed the previous games so we used it as a chance to get out of the house. Bucky watches some of the game but really likes eating the peanuts :) (sidenote: His dad dressed him so please forgive the attire).
