Pool Time

I set up Bucky's pool yesterday for him to play in because it has been so HOT lately. He loves going outside but turns red and sweaty after only a few minutes. He had a blast with his beach ball and bath toys. I changed and sat in there with him so he had someone to play with. He loved it so much that he literally pitched a fit when I picked him up and carried him inside. He saw me coming, sat down, and said "No, No...sit here!" He wanted me to sit beside him again. Poor thing just doesn't understand that there are limitations when outside in +100 degree heat...even when you're in a pool.

I Heart Faces: Let's Hear It For the Boys

A high school friend of mine introduced me to a site called I Heart Faces. They have weekly contests for all levels of photography so I thought I'd try it this week. You can click on the button below to go to the site to view the other contests and entries.

This is my entry for the kids category. It's one of my most recent favorites. I laid down on the grass to get a picture of my son with the sky in the background and he quickly ran over and got down beside me as if to say "Whatcha doin'?" He always finds a way to make me laugh.

Day at the Beach???

We headed to BLORA yesterday, a nearby lake, because it was so hot and we all needed to get out of the house. At this outing, it was determined that we all need water shoes. The sand was rocky, the water was nasty, and I hurt my foot within 5 seconds of being shoeless. At first Bucky wouldn't even get in the water but after we put his sandals on, he was walking with Buck at the edge of the wading area. Even though it was definitely NOT PC, it was nice to be near water.

Big Boy Bed

I don't remember if I've already blogged this but we have put Bucky into his Big Boy Bed. He took to it like a champ. We have had a few incidents of him wanting to play rather than sleep but that's to be expected since his bedroom is also his playroom. I put a couple of blankets underneath the big "hole" in the railing to cushion the floor if he falls out. Here are a couple of his most recent sleeping positions. First we have the "I want to get out of bed but I'm way too tired"; this was how I found him the night he put himself to bed. You read that right - he disappeared from the living room and got very quiet. He had found his puppy and paci and climbed into bed. This was a couple of hours later before we went to bed.
Here is how I found him the next night before we went to bed.

I took him for his two year appt the other day and he weighs 28 lbs. 6 ozs and measures 33.5". He is in the 50th percentile in both categories now. Apparently he just needed time to grow :)
