Lt Dan Band

Ok - I suck. I'm done setting unreachable goals for myself (you know - blogging every day). How about I try at least once a week??

Anyway - we saw the Lt. Dan Band last night at Hood Stadium (check out http://www.ltdanband.com/ for more info). They travel to military bases to provide free entertainment for the troops and their families. Oh, did I mention that Gary Sinise (CSI:NY) is the bassist?? I was so star struck being 20 feet away from a famous person...and the concert was fabulous!! We arrived prior to 1600 per the sign at the main gate, waited in line for the gates to open, found a great spot 20 feet from center stage, set up our chairs, ate some free hotdogs and drank some free water, and then found out the concert starts at 1900. Nice, huh?!?! Bucky was wonderful though. We enjoyed the show and music but left about 2100 to head home to put the little guy to bed. Here are some pics I took while we were there. Jeff Vezain was an awesome vocalist and Kimo Williams (guitarist) is a Vietnam Vet. The concert was just what everone needed to relax on a Saturday night.

More Outside Fun

05/19 We played outside again today because, well, Bucky would live outside if we would let him. It was really beautiful and he was able to spend most of the day in the backyard.

Fun in the yard

I am trying to take pictures everyday for the next year and blog about them. We'll see how long it lasts. We had some great weather so I took pictures of Bucky in the back yard. We didn't get "pro" pictures taken this year so I am going to use something I take for the family. And, in case you are wondering, yes, he is climbing the fence in the second picture.

Bucky Turns 2

Sunday was a very exciting day for us. Our "baby" boy turned two at 10:46PM. We started the morning singing "Happy Birthday" to him as we got him out of his crib. Then I cooked pancakes for him. I even made him a little smiley face with some tiny pancakes. After that, he watched "Cars" with Buck while I went to the store for balloons and mini-DVDs for our camcorder...Yes, I still procrastinate :) Before lunch I made his cake and of course let him lick the beater and the spatula. He loved it!! "More, more" he kept saying and signing (I guess in case I didn't hear him). While the cake was baking, I made him a PB&J sandwich for his lunch. He then took his nap and we sang "Happy Birthday" again when he woke up. He just laughed and laughed. While he was napping, I decorated the cake and went to the PX b/c apparently the only discs Walmart had were the wrong kind so I needed to buy some more. Then I was able to sit for a few minutes when I got back. When he got dressed after his nap, we had his gifts waiting on the couch and he was pleasantly surprised. We let him play for a few minutes and then proceeded to open the gifts from my parents and grandma. He wanted to play with everything as he opened it but adjusted well once he realized there was more. He played with his recorder and golf club/balls before dinner. I made his favorite...sweet potato chicken nuggets. Then we sang "Happy Birthday" again and let him blow out his candle. He did very well...didn't even spit on the cake. He loved licking the candle and then eating the cake (the icing mainly). Later I noticed him dipping the candle in the icing to enjoy it some more :) All in all, he seemed to have a great time with everything and enjoyed playing with all his new toys. We are very proud of our baby boy and feel very blessed to have such a wonderful, amazing child!! Next step, big boy bed...

PS All of the pictures were taken with my new lens...Nikon 50/1.4 AF-S....my Mother's Day present to myself :) I love it!!!

Yummy!

We went to the Genghis Grill last weekend for dinner to try it out. We had heard really good things (a lot of food for cheap)...and they were right!! It is a Mongolian BBQ where you put what you want into a bowl, they grill it for you, add some rice or noodles, and bring it to you hot and fresh. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely make a repeat trip in the near future. Bucky ate for free and definitely got his money's worth - he was shoveling his food straight from the bowl to his mouth.

New Phase

Bucky has now entered a phase I was hoping he had skipped...the take the diaper off and hide it phase. Most of the time, he just lays it where he happened to be standing and we find it later (completely dry). He apparently likes being naked - fine with me while we have tile floors. We have bought him a potty chair just to introduce the idea to him but are in no way forcing potty training on him. He does seem to understand the potty is for "tee-tee" and "ew" (poopy) so at least he's heading that direction. The other day he had taken his diaper off and came to me saying "ew" so I followed him. And there it was on the floor. We cleaned it and flushed it and he seems interested in learning but we are definitely taking it ssssllllloooooowwwww. He is also talking a lot more and where people besides his mother can actually understand it. He has almost all of his teeth - all of a sudden 4-5 started coming through at one time and now he is only missing one or two. Pictures to come later...
