Earth Fest 2009

Fort Hood had an Earth Day celebration on the 24th. We didn't stay very long because there really wasn't much to keep Bucky's interest - or mine for that matter. We did get free hot dogs and drinks while there so it was kinda worth it. Here are some pics to show how well Bucky has been doing since his little accident. I'm pretty sure his leg is completely healed :) In the last picture, Bucky is saying "Peace."

Leg Update

We took Bucky to the Ortho doctor yesterday for a follow-up with his leg. When the lady cut the splint off Bucky was so happy to see his foot and leg that he started squeezing it. The doctor reviewed the XRays from his ER visit and reevaluated his calf tenderness. There didn't appear to be any more tenderness. He is still limping a little but it could be from his leg being stiff for so long. We were told to monitor him for any signs that his leg is still injured but so far he is doing great. He went right back to running around the back yard, climbing (even on our counter-height dining chairs), and chasing the animals. Apparently he only needed it to be immobilized for a little bit so it could heal. YAY!!!

Video Games

I have come to despise whoever invented never-ending video games that suck people in and won't let them go. I am referring to games such as racing games, shoot-em games, and all others that are addictive. That's my rant for the day.

Leg Update

We have an appointment with an ortho doctor next Wednesday to further examine Bucky's leg to determine if there is an underlying cause for his ongoing pain. Hopefully he will run around and climb on everything when they remove the splint - that's best case scenario. The only time we have removed it was for bath time - other than that, he has been unable to move his leg. Here are some pics from the hospital. As you can see, he was so upset that he fell asleep during the procedure.

Prayers Needed

Hi Everyone - Some friends of ours need your prayers with them during this trying time. Their 2 1/2 year old little boy was diagnosed with SMA when he was about 10 months old. Spinal muscular atrophy is a rare degenerative genetic disorder that affects the spinal cord and nerves, resulting in muscle wasting and weakness. In other words, things we take for granted such as coughing and eating are next to impossible for him. Recently he was admitted to the hospital and is currently up and down from day to day. He is not doing well at all and his parents have started preparing to say good-bye. He is a fighter and continues to do so even in his weakened state. Please pray for him and his family during this very difficult time. Parents - please thank God that your little one is able to climb on the couch and run...it truly is a blessing.

Quick Update

We made it back to Texas Tuesday night around 500 pm. It was definitely an adventure travelling with two adults, one child, a dog, and four cats. Bucky did the best , I think. We stopped overnight near Lafayette, LA. I wish we had more time because I like to explore new locations during road trips but maybe next time. We enjoyed seeing those we were able to but I really missed a few that were unable to work it into their schedules. Hopefully next time, we'll have more notice for his leave. We still haven't unloaded the trailer but have been busy. We took Bucky to the ER yesterday because he was still unable to properly walk. The XRays didn't show anything but we chose to splint his leg and they are referring us to an orthopedic dr to make sure nothing is wrong with his growth plates. Apparently the area that is still sensitive is prone to break in toddlers (his calf area). Anyway - he is walking ok with it and hopefully all he needs is something to stabilize it but we're covering all bases just in case. I'll upload pics when we get internet and I am using my computer instead of his phone.

Leftover Lasagna

We had leftover lasagna for lunch yesterday and he was doing very well eating it until he decided he was finished...can anyone say Drama King??

Our Crazy Child

Everyone knows by now that we are in the middle of moving to Texas from FL. We previously had our stuff in storage shipped to meet us there and are now packing up our apartment in PC so everything will be in one place. The other day it was really warm so we let Bucky play in the back wearing just his diaper. His leg was still hurting hence the crawling and actually sitting still. He is too funny!!

PC Egg Hunt

We ended up going to the PC Playgroup Egg Hunt. We missed the hunt but Bucky got to play with his long-lost friends, Chase and Jimmy. It was like they were never apart :) It was great to see them together again. Bucky was having a great time until his foot was bent backwards on the slide and was injured. We also met up with Amy/Ethan, Melanie/Evelyn, Nicole/Olivia, Tonia/Jackson, Michelle/Andrew, and Nameka/Quentin. It was great seeing everyone again and I'm really going to miss the get-togethers.

Stop in Georgia

We flew into ATL on Sunday afternoon. We stayed with some friends of ours who cooked an awesome dinner - Buck's favorite sausage, chicken, yummy green beans, and potatoes. The next day we went to visit his grandparents for errands and lunch and then on to storage to finish clearing out. Unfortunately that didn't work out because we still have a few furniture pieces and his big lawnmower but we do have people who hopefully want most all of the furniture and ACE is going to pick up the mower for us. Bucky and the Easleys' little girl, London, had such a fun time playing together, squealing, roaring, and chasing each other. It was very humorous to watch them.

Ft. Hood Month of the Military Child

The Saturday before we left Ft. Hood, they had a Month of the Military Child carnival with bouncy houses, free food, and activities for the kids. Even though he was still a little young for a lot of the activities, he enjoyed the bouncy house and watching everything around him.

FYI - He is cutting about 5-6 teeth right now so he chews on his hand ALOT!! Hopefully he'll be done with it soon and can go back to enjoying being a toddler :)

Pics from TX

These are some pictures I had on my camera from before we left TX. The first is Bucky with April Hailey. Then he's playing with bubbles, showing off his hard rock cafe shirt, sleeping on an air mattress, running around our new backyard, playing guitar with daddy, and staring out the front window.
